The Daily Sentinel, 02 May 2012 - Recently, in a rare moment of short-sightedness, George Will endorsed the legalization of drugs as a solution to drug cartel violence. His rationale was that this would undercut profits and put them out of business. If only it were that simple. You have to be very naive to believe that if we tax and regulate drugs that these dealers are going to give up, go home and start car washes and taco shops. Drugs will always be cheaper on the street and the black market will continue.

Summit Daily News, 01 May 2012 - DENVER - A divisive proposal to set a marijuana blood standard for drivers is back before the Colorado Senate, which rejected the idea last year. The Senate was scheduled to debate a bill that says drivers would be considered impaired if they test positive for 5 nanograms or more of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, per milliliter of blood. Some dispute whether a blood THC test is a fair gauge of whether a driver is impaired.

Summit Daily News, 29 Apr 2012 - There is an important issue currently being discussed in Summit County and I'd like to draw attention to it. It involves writing a code amendment for commercial medical marijuana cultivating facilities to be built and operated on agriculturally-zoned land (A-1), primarily in the Lower Blue River Basin. These facilities are called Optional Premise Cultivating operations; they are currently banned in unincorporated Summit County and are limited to commercially zoned land.

Boulder Weekly, 26 Apr 2012 - (Re: "Nipping 4/20 in the bud," cover story, April 12.) To all CU campus administrators involved in 4/20 planning: As a CU alum I would like you to know that the majority of CU students disagree with your approach to the 4/20 event. Your attempts to suppress civil disobedience and free speech against unjust laws only shows how out of touch you are with the feelings and desires of your student body. Imprisoning people for non-violent protest and ruining your students' future job prospects is rooted in an antiquated and tragically misinformed view of the marijuana plant, which has been proven safe over 50 years of scientific study.

Boulder Weekly, 26 Apr 2012 - Administrators at CU are like those people who go to Vegas, lose a bunch of money, come back home and tell everyone who will listen that they really won, and then either refuse to admit, or are honestly incapable of grasping, that they have a serious problem. For more than 20 years, the annual 4/20 event on the CU campus came and went pretty much without incident. There is really no reason to think that this year would have been any different had those who run the University not decided to make it different, but they did, and it was.

The Gazette, 25 Apr 2012 - Air Force Academy officials expect to discipline at least seven cadets after a months-long investigation into reports of illegal drug use at the academy. No names of cadets punished for illegal drug use - nor specifics of the discipline they received - were released Wednesday, more than three months after academy officials began investigating cadets' use of banned substances.
