The Californian, 17 Feb 2012 - A judge approved a restraining order Friday the city of Murrieta had requested to shutter a medical marijuana collective. But he also acknowledged the order was ambiguous, and the owners of the collective said they have no intention of shutting it down. Riverside Superior Court Judge John Vineyard approved the city's request for the order against Greenhouse Cannabis Club, a medical marijuana collective that opened in January.

Record Searchlight, 19 Feb 2012 - As a retired detective, I heartily agree with your proposal (editorial, Sunday) to legalize/regulate marijuana. Marijuana has always been too dangerous a drug to leave its production in the hands of criminals and its retail sales in the hands of our teenagers. It should be given the same laws and respect as beer. As my profession continues to shrink in California, we must focus on public safety crimes like rape, robbery, murder, etc. If anyone develops an addiction to marijuana, see a doctor.

The Daily Californian, 15 Feb 2012 - Medical cannabis is viewed as both a burgeoning industry and a cause of judicial contention for many people in California and across the country. In Berkeley, federal intervention is beginning to affect the city's small -- but growing -- medical cannabis industry. In recent months, the U.S. Department of Justice has cracked down on medical marijuana in California, saying that many of the dispensaries and cultivators operating within the state's legal guidelines are actually violating federal law.

Sacramento News & Review, 16 Feb 2012 - Grassroots Effort Aims to Legalize Pot Clubs Once Again Remember last summer? There were at least 80 medical-cannabis-dispensing collectives in Sacramento County-maybe more. The board of supervisors was working on a regulatory plan. People had jobs, patients had medicine-the overall industry seemed to be doing great.

San Francisco Examiner, 17 Feb 2012 - It's not easy to open a medical cannabis dispensary in San Francisco, but it's very easy for patients to purchase their medicine from the comfort of home - even if the service is illegal. Delivery services operating in seeming violation of city law advertise in print and on the Web, and operate in full knowledge of city officials, who say their hands are tied.

Los Angeles Daily News, 16 Feb 2012 - What part of a court ruling on medical marijuana collectives doesn't the Long Beach City Council get? Apparently council members don't quite grasp that under a state appeals court ruling cities can ban medical marijuana outlets but can't allow them through a permitting process like the ones Long Beach and Los Angeles use.

Spartan Daily, 14 Feb 2012 - San Jose City Council members repealed Ordinance No. 28960, which included regulations of medical marijuana collectives and individual use of marijuana, at Tuesday's meeting. The ordinance allowed city action against collectives until the state creates a regulation system, directed staff to create quarterly reports on tax compliance and complaint data and allowed consideration of a tax increase, according to the council agenda.

The Press Democrat, 15 Feb 2012 - A Healdsburg man whose marijuana was stolen in a home-invasion robbery will be allowed to seek restitution to treat post-traumatic stress disorder but not to cover his lost pot. That was Tuesday's ruling from Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Gary Medvigy in a potentially precedent-setting case that was being watched by marijuana advocates across the state.

New Times, 09 Feb 2012 - Say, do you plan to vote in the primary elections? I'm voting for Ron Paul, a Republican. We have open primaries in California, so anyone can vote for any party. He wants to legalize all drugs! He's got my vote.

Record Searchlight, 12 Feb 2012 - Sgt. Barry Powell didn't come out and say that Shasta County's new marijuana-growing ordinance will make foresters' lives more dangerous. But that's the clear implication from the outline of trends the head of the county's Marijuana Eradication Team gave Thursday to the Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference.
